In an interesting turn of events, the Hades Colony of Mars has published a statement that has shocked and surprised many around the Sol System. Most of our viewers may be familiar with the Martian Colony as notoriously reclusive and unwilling to open its doors very wide for outsiders. However, it appears that recent circumstances have changed that stance.
The Council of Clans released the following statement this afternoon:
| "After the news and reports of the devastation suffered recently, and considering our own history with war, disaster, famine, and genocide, The Council of Clans is opening the doors of Mars to any and all who need a place to go. Shelter will be offered, food and water will be given, and if there are some who decide to stay, the opportunity to live among us, gain meaningful employment, and learn about our customs and traditions will also be forthcoming."
"Mars wouldn't be the free world that it is now without the help and intervention of many outsiders, and in this time of need, we offer our hand to those who may need it, for the more we share, the more our bowl will be plentiful." "Hades Colony is the first location that has been conditioned to receive a high volume of those seeking refuge, friendship, and understanding. The Council Of Clans will also have representatives in every Martian colony and settlement for those who may have further questions and needs." |
Despite the surprise caused by this statement, many around the Sol System are expressing relief. In particular, migrants with family on the Red Planet seem grateful for the opportunity to see the colony step up. A number of businesses owners are reportedly already in the process of securing transportation and the permits to set up shop, believing that it will increase profits and help them rebuild more quickly.
Though the move is not without criticism. Some inhabitants of Hades Colony are skeptical of opening their doors to non-citizen on economic ventures, citing worries about how it will impact local businesses. One viewer in a local news comment section wrote, quote, "Great. I can't wait to see flashy corpo blimps floating over the dome." Another viewer seemed to provide a more tempered response, stating, "There's no sense in being hostile until they've overstayed their welcome. More businesses mean more employment for Martians, and more competition encourages businesses to do better."
No matter the sentiment among civilians, it seems that the bold move by the Council making waves. Already, only hours after the announcement, fleets of private shuttles are being rented out in droves with affected business owners on Cocoon Station eager to take the offered help.
