A few days ago, January 30th, ONN brought you news of Dr. Ophelia Faith, Genetectic's CEO, and her brutally blunt statement regarding Black Tenet; including but not limited to realistic chances of fighting off the widespread malware. New Geneva has conferred with Dr. Faith several times and it appears there is now a plan of action. Michael Nikolaidis, Elder Councilor to New Geneva has issued a statement regarding what appears to be an overhaul to the NET and all the services it offers.

“The NET is a vital part of our society, for business, for pleasure, and mostly, for entertainment. A good portion of active corporations today offer goods and services through the NET, and entertainment is all spread through the NET, by keeping users away from the NET, not only are they being limited from basic services such as SolBank and basic technological interaction, and as uncertain as the future of Black Tenet is, New Geneva can not afford to wait until a way to stop this malware is found.

After several meetings with Dr. Faith, we have decided to bring in Network Systems Incorporated (NSI) as a strong recommendation from both Advanced Research and Experimental Systems, and Armitech Corporation. A not too known megacorporation, NSI deals primarily with information flow and data regulation as well as SubNet optimization. While a fully upgraded NET will take a long time to be active, representatives of NSI are more than confident that they can change NET protocols to at least slow down the infection rate of Black Tenet while we rework the NET architecture that has gone unchanged for so many decades now. In the coming days, all users of the NET will receive a notification on their devices of a mandatory update going live. This update will be applied to any and all devices ranging from cyberdecks to netrunning chairs and even Stasis Stations, all corporations that are registered as developers and manufacturers of NET access devices through the Sol System will be issuing this update. If for some reason a device is not updated for any reason, they will no longer be able to access any NET services and will automatically become blacklisted and may even be bricked out of safety concerns.

The approximate cost of this massive endeavor is $875 billion Sol Credits, any and all corporations of any size that counts with a SubNET, public or otherwise, will automatically be deducted a fee to help cover these charges, and the update will be automatically applied to their SubNETs as well to prevent lingering cases of high infection.

I can not emphasize this enough, this is not a cure, nor will this neutralize Black Tenet, but it will slow it down to the point where all the parties involved and actively working towards neutralizing Black Tenet completely will have room to maneuver without infections increasing exponentially. The safety of both the corporations acting as service providers, the revenue factor, and of course, our consumers, is top priority for New Geneva.

New Geneva is fully committed to fighting Black Tenet and showcases the best and brightest minds in the Sol System, and this is our first action towards our inevitable victory.

Thank you.”

With the addition of Network Systems Incorporated, New Geneva is upping the ante when it comes to the fight against Black Tenet, while not lethal in its current incarnation, it can lead to several high risk situations that have affected important sectors of corporate society. We at ONN hope that a definitive fix against this malware is found soon.

Do you have any comments? What do you think of the inclusion of the barely known Network Systems Incorporated?
