ONN Science Desk, Richard Hart Reporting.

This is not a drill.

An urgent communications broadcast out of the belt warns of a dire threat to Luna Colony. In a startling turn of events, the reported solar flare incident appears to have knocked offline the systems of a rock hauler, resulting in its towing machinery releasing.

The asteroid, roughly 1.2 kilometers in size, was on due course for one of several mining facilities in the belt when disaster struck. Despite the best efforts of the team to contact for assistance, electronic failures left them stranded and silent in the depths of space.

Now, with their communication systems back online, ONN has received a warning of the inbound projectile. We've forwarded the alert to Luna officials, who are currently arming the colony's Guardian Defense Satellites to protect the colony from what astronomers are dubbing a 'planet killer'.

However, with little time to prepare, we must caution citizens against space travel for the time being, and urge everyone to seek shelter and remain indoors. Our thoughts are with the workers on-board the hauler, and we hope they can reach their families safely. Stay tuned for updates as we cover this event live.

I repeat, an asteroid of considerable size is on a trajectory to hit Luna. This asteroid measures 1.2 Kilometers in size and has the potential to be an extinction-level event. To all of our listeners on Luna, seek shelter immediately. All traffic to and from Luna colony is being rerouted and/or grounded. Stay indoors and seek shelter beneath the surface if it is available to you. Check on family and the infirm to ensure their safety.

I repeat, this is not a drill.
