The Free Company is a Private Military Contracting (PMC) organization. As a collective of solos and private contractors who work under one company, the organization affords additional protections and benefits to those working under them, and provides armed combat or security services via contract. The organization's personnel are referred to as "Operators", and this umbrella includes Recruits, Standard Division Operators, Senior Operators and Field Opertation Leads, though distinctions are made when necessary.

Commonly held belief states that The Free Company serves as a liberation front and a protective force for civilians, and all personnel within the organization receive extensive Black Ops and SWAT training.

History

Founded in ████ by former Commander Jack Remington, The Free Company was created to provide equal opportunity employment for all who sought work. Specifically targeted toward those who had backgrounds in military, mercenary and solo gigs, the company hired individuals with backgrounds that were less than ideal for the average paramilitary employer.

Departments

The Free Company maintains a number of paramilitary and civilian departments. Those still operating as of Spring 2494 are listed below. Aside from names of departments, extensive details of all divisions is considered confidential IC information only known internally.

Paramilitary Divisions

Special Operations Division: PLAYABLE

Consists of Stealth Operators and Skilled Deckers. SpecOps has a focus on silent movement and infiltration. As a primarily support-focused role in the field, an efficient SpecOps unit has the potential to turn the tide of battle by compromising their opponent’s defenses.

Ogre Division: PLAYABLE

Consists of Tanks and HIGH Survivability Experts. Ogres have a focus on the capacity to shrug off hits and stay standing. As the first line of defense, the goal of Ogres is to ensure that you pose such a significant threat to your enemies that they will be forced to focus on you.

Infantry Division: PLAYABLE

Consists of Arms and Melee Specialists. Infantry has a focus on high-damage dealing capacity and survival. As the front line of our offensive capabilities, the goal of Infantry is to ensure that an enemy will think twice before attempting to fight you. Infantry presents the most widely versatile set of skills within a single individual.

Snipers Division: PLAYABLE

Specialty builds which are designed to deal high damage and keep their distance, Snipers place a heavy focus on ensuring they are never in close quarters. Due to the high EN cost of firing a rifle, maintaining 10 meters or more between yourself and your target is ideal. Snipers are also used for flushing out enemies and providing cover.

Civilian Divisions

Engineering Division: PLAYABLE

Augmentations, vehicular, aircraft and IT specialists. Primarily a non-combative role, Engineers may find their exosuits and strength optimal for assisting in fending off threats when necessary. Thanks to years spent around heavy machinery and a knack for identifying structural weaknesses, an Engineer can pinpoint where to hit to make it hurt.

Pilots Division: SPECIALTY TRAINING COURSE

Aircraft and spacecraft pilots. Primarily a non-combative role, Pilots can double as support roles in a pinch. Due to an extensive amount of time spent learning to spot threats and navigate around them, a Pilot’s observational abilities can help spin a seemingly hopeless situation into a win for the team.

BioMedical Division: SPECIALTY TRAINING COURSE

Specialists handing biomachinery, organic and replicant tissues. Specialty builds which have a focus on high-mobility and high-survival. Combat Medics are meant to stay alive and quickly get to their allies. Some Combat Medic builds may choose to additionally specialize in the Biotech Tree’s offensive side. For this purpose, we recommend the specialty weapons sold in our office.

Assets & Holdings

The Free Company's assets and holdings as of Spring 2493 are documented below.

Cocoon Station: Visconti Building Headquarters Office

Located in the Visconti Building, it features a lobby with info desk and a GigaBytes Cafe. It's an ideal location for meeting with the faction in a more casual setting. The HQ itself contains the Briefing Room, Dorms, Mess Hall, Commander's Office and a modular room for different builds.

Cocoon Station: The Queen's Arms Pub

A mercenary's watering hole, the pub is home to solos, assassins and spies, and serves as the working man's retreat. Tt's a quaint spot to have a pint with a pal, celebrate and blow off steam. FC purchased the pub to ensure it neutrality, but it's privately run. Anyone may work here.
